How Are Taildraggers Different?
Many pilots are under the impression that flying a taildragger is an entirely different world.
That somehow, even the instruments in the panel are completely different from what they might
ordinarily be accustomed to using. This isn't true! However, due to the complex
nature of flying a taildragger, a more thorough understanding of flight dynamics and navigation
principals is required. As such, many of the instruments within the instrument panel of
a taildragger are referred to by names which more aptly describe their function. Below is a typical taildragger panel with each
instrument labelled in taildragger vernacular.
